Overview
I designed and greyboxed a level set in the Chamber of Secrets, starting from the bathroom in Hogwarts Legacy and extending to the chamber's innermost room. The goal was a believable, navigable space that respected the source material while working as an engaging game level.
My role
I designed the level with a specific focus on wayfinding, spatial storytelling, sightlines, and pacing.
Getting the scale right
In the films, the chamber feels grand and ancient while keeping a tense, claustrophobic mood. I struggled with that balance at first, and found it by alternating narrow corridors with expansive chambers for the player to explore.
What I learned
I researched what makes level design work by replaying favorite areas from Halo: Combat Evolved, Doom, and Hogwarts Legacy, paying close attention to what made each space interesting.
